The days after the wedding (22 - 23/3/14)

22nd March

The morning after the wedding I woke feeling very thirsty, as expected, but with no hangover. Spot on. We met Molly, Brendan, Phil, Holly and Taze, Molly's immediate family and their other halves for breakfast at about half 10. About 12 people in total. We all met at a place called Kelly's. We had to go to the till and order our breakfasts separately but somehow they got everyone's order right. That's not bad for a table that large. I ordered the biggest one there with a caramel milkshake. At 20 quid it is THE most I've ever paid for breakfast. It was good though and the caramel milkshake was perfect. It was great that everyone could make it and a nice little continuation to the wedding celebrations. After breakfast Geoff, Sandra and me went home to relax but we popped into Molly's parents in the afternoon to watch Molly and Brendan open their cards and presents and to bare witness to the fact they were genuinely grateful for all of them. The rest of the afternoon was spent catching up on sleep because in the evening Sandra and Geoff dropped me near Burswood casino as I had arranged to meet up with two old school mates who were currently living in Perth. One of them, Keith was renting a flat nearby, and the other one, Ed, was living with him. We were heading out to watch the Arsenal/Chelsea football match at a pub about 20 minutes away. Ed was driving which was very handy. At the pub we watched the match and sank a few beers. Chelsea officially hammered Arsenal. Ed was pleased, Keith wasn't. After the pub we drove down the road to see what was going on at the other pubs there but most were closing and the rest had big queues so we had a swift half at one pub and left shortly after. Now it was time for an executive decision. Do we get a kebab now or buy meat and cook it on the BBQ back at Keith's. The word's Mario Kart and Goldeneye got used in there somewhere and we were soon back at Keith's with sausages and burgers and a statutory bag of salad in hand. The meat went on and Mario Kart got started up and memories of high school came flooding back. This was classic good old times. Before we knew it we were full of BBQ food and it was half four in the morning. I'd got caned at Mario kart and Ed hated Goldeneye so it was definitely time to call it a night. It was too late to head home so I crashed on Keith's floor, literally. Me and a cushion. The good old days.

It's my mum's birthday today so Happy Birthday Mum :)

23rd March

I woke up at half 7 with only 4 hours sleep but it was good enough. I had to get the train home first thing so that Sandra and Geoff could pick me up from the station during their morning errands. Before I left the flat I said goodbye to Ed as I wouldn't be seeing him again as he was returning to England. Keith was moving home too in a few more weeks and Ed wouldn't have anywhere to live so he'd booked an earlier flight to Keith so he had plenty of time to get things sorted. Keith then showed me where the train station was and we arranged when to meet next. I thanked him for an awesome night, I'm so easily pleased, and said goodbye. I called Geoff to arrange a pick up whilst I waited for the train. The train arrived after about 20 mins and I was soon at the destination station to meet Sandra and Geoff. They arrived soon after I'd got off to pick me up. After they had run their errands they dropped me at Brendan and Molly's so I could get instructions for looking after their dog and house sitting while they were away on their honeymoon. Once back at Sandra and Geoff's I had a much needed shower and caught up on my sleep. In the evening we all went out for Holly's birthday to one of the restaurants at the casino which was an all you can eat buffet for $70. That's a lot of money but the food was really tasty. There were oysters, sushi, prawns, mussels, clams, Chinese mains, Indian mains, dim sum, beef, risotto, German dishes, Italian dishes. You name it it was there. And that's not too mention the dessert section. I can't even remember the choices there were that many. But the pistachio slices were amazing and the rocky road ice cream was delicious. For the first time ever I got to a point where my body said "if you eat any more you will chunder EVERYWHERE". I took the hint. I finally got to meet Holly's family though who I'd never actually seen up till then which was nice to finally do. After the meal I had to make some room so went to the toilet. I swear to god the guy in the cubicle next to me was giving birth. I've never heard so much panting before! I thought he might have a heart attack. We left the restaurant at a reasonable hour and back at home I got a few bits together to take to Brendan and Molly's as that was the first of 10 nights I'd be sleeping there. Geoff dropped me down there and I was soon in my room being very impressed with the hotel style bed and towel layout. After a beer I went to bed.
